We are constantly striving to make recycling at BIRD as easy and user-friendly as possible. Less confusion means less error and higher value for the items that you make the effort to recycle. If you are uncertain about how or whether to recycle an item, please don't hesitate to ask one of our friendly BIRD employee's on site.
In particular, we would appreciate your help in:
Compressing the loads
The municipality pays for the transport of all the recycling bins to Vancouver for emptying.
The less air we send, the more the municipality saves (that's our taxes!).
Please flatten milk jugs and flatten tin cans.
REMEMBER NOT to flatten any beer or pop cans.
If you make a mistake.....
..... and put the wrong thing in a green bin, please take the trouble to rectify the mistake, or at least ask for help in doing so.
Rinse bottles and jars
It is so much more pleasant for all BIRD users. A load of recycling may be refused by the buyer in Vancouver if the items are dirty.
