 Plastic Containers

Cleaned plastic containers used for cooking oil, laundry detergent and fabric softener, cleaning products, food and personal health products. Plastic clamshells and plastic trays and tops for hardware, garden pots and trays.
Ask BIRD employees for the full list of accepted plastics. 
NO plastic film or bags.
Plastic water, juice, alcohol & pop bottles go to the refundable area.

Light Bulbs

All lights bulbs, including florescent tubes, are accepted.

Metal

We accept metal cans, metal coat hangers, rain gutters, pie plates, and other metal items light enough to be carried by one person.
Please clean and flatten. Labels may remain on.
For larger pieces of metal, please connect with BIRD staff, who will help you to dispose of it.
NO appliances.
NOTE: Beer and pop cans go to the refundable area. 

Corrugated Cardboard

Corrugated, crimped paper between two flat sheets.

NO waxed corrugated boxes.

 Smoke and Carbon      Monoxide Detectors

Please deposit in the box near the entrance of the depot.

Ink and Toner Cartridges

Leave in the labeled box at the site.






Cell Phones


Please deposit in the box for cell phones near the entrance.

Milk Jugs
(semi-transparent)

Please be sure to clean.
Translucent white jugs go into the bins near the entrance, in front of the yellow compactor.


Glass

We take all kinds of glass except mirrors and light bulbs.
Please rinse jars!
Glass water, pop, wine, beer & liquor bottles go to the refundable area. 

Plastic Bags 

Clean retail bags, bags for bread, produce,dry bulk foods, frozen vegetables, outer wrap for soft drinks and pre washed salad bags
NO chip or snack bags, ziplock, crunchy cellophane, kitchen stretch wrap,bubble wrap, dirty soil bags, dirty construction plastic or garbage bags(all colours).

Soup, milk and milk substitute

All milk and plant-based milk substitutes now have a deposit, so are collected separately from soup, cream (both milk and plant-based), sugar, eggs, etc.

Cartons should be rinsed and lids can stay on.
 

Styrofoam

BIRD is currently only collecting CLEAN Styrofoam meat trays, both white and coloured. 
The depot NO LONGER accepts either Styrofoam packaging  or peanuts.

Electric Appliances and Power tools

TVs, monitors, computers, printers, scanners, mouse, cables, fax machines, stereo systems, radios,
and phones are accepted.
Power tools are accepted. 
Portable electric appliances for the home, garage, and yard that
plug in or use batteries
are accepted.
CDs and DVDs are accepted.

Mixed Paper and Newspaper

Books, magazines, newspaper,
office paper, paper towels, tissue paper and paper board such as cereal boxes are accepted.
Corrugated cardboard does NOT belong in mixed paper;
it is a separate category.
Metal or plastic bindings
MUST be removed.
We do not accept:
-items coated with plastic, foil or wax
- coffee cups or milk containers
- Foil Christmas wrapping paper.

Batteries

Alkaline, rechargeable, and automotive batteries are accepted.
